The Practical Woodsman
Education • Travel • Preparedness
The Practical Woodsman is a way to share love of the wilderness, as well as my observations, thinking, and approach to what folks today are calling 'bushcraft' and 'survival'. The focus is on what is practical, as well as pointing out certain things being demonstrated by 'bushcrafters' today that are not practical at all.

A moment of joy for myself - a milestone - but also an opportunity for me to reaffirm my appreciation for those of you who have been with me since the beginning. @GHuns @Swerth @Hepburn99 immediately come to mind. You guys have been undeservingly good to me the past couple of years.

You were interested in what I was putting out, and talking about, even during the stretches when nobody else cared or was listening, and when the channel was going completely overlooked.

There were many months - long stretches when I simply couldn’t devote lots of time or attention to The Practical Woodsman, because of personal life obligations, so I just did what I could, and it was you three that especially showed me undeserved support during those times.

I just want to tell the three of you how much I appreciate your support. All three of you have more to offer than I do on many of the topics I highlight on The Practical Woodsman, and I am not deserving of your support. I should actually be learning from you on many of these topics. But I appreciate very much your loyalty and undeserved support. Thank you for celebrating this 3,000 follower milestone with me.

Don’t worry about subscribing anymore for ‘Supporter’ status here on our group. I have the ability to grant it at no cost to whomever I chose, and I will be granting it to the three of you from today on. (Bear with me for a few days until I am able to sit down, go into your profiles and give you this status. I am currently juggling many things.)

Again, thank you - the three of you - so, so much for not only being interested in The Practical Woodsman, but for supporting my humble efforts for all this time. Truly, you have blessed me far more than I have entertained you, and I am so, so grateful to each of you. You mean a lot to me.

My Grandpa Reincarnated

I think I found my grandpa reincarnated online - which is strange, since this guy seems to be only thirty years or so younger than my grandpa would be today.

Anyway, the guy talks like us, acts like us. “I don’t think it’ll kill nobody” made me laugh out loud, because that’s our attitude as we continue scarfing down some thing we don’t like but that is technically edible and nutritious.

Heat Related Complications

Gonna have to dedicate an episode of Practical Woodsman discussing the realities of this.

We’re Screwed

It’s a hundred degrees here and everybody’s electronics and Internet all over town can’t handle it. Everything glitching, cell phones can’t maintain signals.

Think about that. A hot day and all of our electronics and infrastructure can’t handle it. Can you imagine the real problems everybody’s gonna be dealing with when a real disaster or emergency strikes?
