The Practical Woodsman
Education • Travel • Preparedness
The Practical Woodsman is a way to share love of the wilderness, as well as my observations, thinking, and approach to what folks today are calling 'bushcraft' and 'survival'. The focus is on what is practical, as well as pointing out certain things being demonstrated by 'bushcrafters' today that are not practical at all.

New group tradition: Comfort Food Friday

From now on, on Fridays, I propose we share something special: A comfort food we are enjoying, or one that we wish we were enjoying. I’ll kick us off…

I wish I had taken a picture of the late supper I had today, but it didn’t occur to me until I had already gobbled it all up. It was outstanding.

I had something off the menu of my favorite local restaurant called General Tso’s Chicken Sliders (with slaw on them), sweet tater fries, and a small bowl of green beans (cooked with bacon). All of it was exceptional.

The pictures I got here off the internet are only approximations. The presentation and the taste of what I actually enjoyed today was much, much better. I can’t find any perfect representation of it on the internet.

Well fellas this is kinda a long thought here but in appalachia you become kin with folk that ain't necessarily related to you. Back in 2001 me and the wife got our first owned residence away from the city I was stuck in since my dad got sick and died.
Anyway a short time later a family moved in with kids around our kids ages. We did alot of fun things together as young couples do. But anyway our boys become best friends.
I had always loved the lot but their youngest who is my oldest best friend told us some time back "congratulations buddy you are gonna be an uncle"
So tonight his girl gone into labor...and I'm honorary "PawPaw". So my thought is...although I know I got less than a few years to figure it out....how do I show the next generation the wonder and beauty of the world as I see it?
