The Practical Woodsman
Education • Travel • Preparedness
The Practical Woodsman is a way to share love of the wilderness, as well as my observations, thinking, and approach to what folks today are calling 'bushcraft' and 'survival'. The focus is on what is practical, as well as pointing out certain things being demonstrated by 'bushcrafters' today that are not practical at all.

Grandpappy’s Outhouse

In this latest episode of The Practical Woodsman podcast (#26, re-uploading to YouTube now, audio version already available on the podcast platforms) I talk a bit about outhouses, and in particular my grandpa’s outhouse where I used to catch up on community news by reading the gossip that folks had scribbled on the walls.

The attached picture here is not my picture, nor is it a picture of my grandpa’s actual outhouse… but it sure does look similar enough! For that reason I’m sharing it here.

I am with Swerth. First snowfall here north of Toronto as well, an hour or so from his place. Local woods was peaceful.
