The Practical Woodsman is a way to share love of the wilderness, as well as my observations, thinking, and approach to what folks today are calling 'bushcraft' and 'survival'. The focus is on what is practical, as well as pointing out certain things being demonstrated by 'bushcrafters' today that are not practical at all.

Artists & The Woods
When it comes to capturing the essence of your love of the woods, who are some of your favorite artists?
Two that come to my mind immediately are Ivan Shishkin and Howard Terpning. Shishkin captures the subtle beauties of the woods perfectly while Terpning captures Native Americans in the untamed world perfectly.

What is your theory? I don't have a dog in the hunt about this, but I was just wondering with 30 or more Bigfoot sightings every year how come no one ever bags one? That is the one thing that makes me doubt. I read the sightings which are full of tales of people fleeing in terror, but almost no one ever opens fire. What do you guys think?
